Mountain Dome Winery

Mountain Dome Winery is really 6 people. Michael and Pat Manz started the winery in their geodesic home in 1984. Together with their three children and Michael's brother John, they comprise the labor force behind the gnomes of Mountain Dome. Erik was trained in France at the University of Reims and is the assistant winemaker while David and Rachael are still in graduate school and college and supply seasonal help.

Mountain Dome is the second largest sparkling house in Washington State . It was started in 1984 with the goal of producing the finest sparkling wine possible from Washington State grapes. Currently we produce 4,000 cases of four sparkling wines and have recently added a still Chardonnay from Ryan Patrick vineyard and a still Pinot Noir from the Crystal Pheasant Vineyard in the Columbia Gorge. We are distributed in 27 states. Our sparkling wines have consistently been rated the highest scores of all of Washington State 's sparkers. Two Willmes presses handle the grapes very gently and help form Mountain Dome's commitment to quality. Our main winery building is a state of the art facility with Washington 's only Gyro-matic riddling machine. The wines are aged for three to seven years in our 7,200 square foot temperature controlled building that maintains 54 degrees year round.
